Programmer kerja di rumah
Catatan Mas Budi Rahardjo tentang “Programmer lebih suka kerja di rumahan” sangat menarik minat saya. Tidak lain karena saya sendiri programmer yang bekerja di rumah. Komentar dari catatan ini pun tidak kalah seru.
Saya jadi ingin menganalisa lingkungan kerja saya sendiri. Apakah sudah memenuhi syarat? Acuan yang saya pakai dari catatan di atas:
- 40 jam seminggu
Saya merasa sudah melampaui jam kerja maximum ini. Saya pikir ini tidak masalah. Jam kerja memang tidak beraturan, tapi dihitung total jendral pasti melampaui maksimum target jam kerja per minggu. - “Result Oriented” not “Rule Oriented”
Saya sangat setuju dengan komentar Zakaria dan menginginkan hal seperti ini. Tapi masalahnya saya juga harus punya “milestone”. Bekerja sendiri (sekarang dibantu 1 orang) di rumah terkadang bingung dalam membuat milestone ini. Terlebih jika punya beberapa pekerjaan yang harus berjalan secara “multi-tasking”. Tanpa menentukan milestone ini, mustahil kita akan mencapai “Result Oriented” yang maksimum. Acuannya akan kembali ke 40 jam seminggu atau “Rule Oriented”. - Atmosfir kerja yang nyaman
Secara pribadi, saya memang suka dengan lingkungan kerja rumah, dengan space cukup luas. Kenyamanan tinggal di Bandung yang hawanya cukup sejuk, salah satu point buat saya karena tidak perlu AC, bebas merokok. Kopi dan mie-instant selalu tersedia. Yang menjadi ganjalan adalah tamu tak diundang disaat kita sedang full konsentrasi. Tetangga, teman, kerabat, saudara sampai ke peminta sumbangan. - Mood
Alasan paling klasik yang dipakai pekerja IT adalah mood. Benar atau tidak, saya terkadang seperti mengalaminya. Tapi bekerja dilingkungan rumah, mood saya paling tidak lebih banyak dibanding kalau saya bekerja di kantor. Coding adalah pekerjaan exact yang artinya kalau kita segera memulainya, kita langsung dapat mood-nya. Lain dengan pekerjaan analisa dan design, jika kita tidak punya teman berdiskusi, maka saya sangat menunggu mood ini. - Estimasi Waktu
Kegagalan menepati batas waktu, yang saya alami, biasanya karena pekerjaan di sub ke orang lain (yang juga kerja di rumahnya sendiri). Karena susah mengendalikannya, maka kalau ada kerjaan sub pun sekarang harus dilakukan di rumah saya. Enggak boleh dibawa ke rumah. - Ruang Santai
Ini yang saya belum punya. Sofa + TV saya kira sudah cukup. Waktu saya kuliah dulu di ITB, saya ingat masih ada Ruang Santai dekat lapangan tennis. Ruang ini selalu saya gunakan kalau saya sedang capek. Sofanya walaupun kurang begitu nyaman, tapi kadang masih bisa membuat kita tertidur sejenak. Re-Fresh. - Social Life
Ini yang paling repot. Yang dibutuhkan sebenarnya social-life dari rekan seprofesi. Kalau dirumahan semacam saya, saya jadi agak kurang kontak dengan teman seprofesi. Walaupun ada internet, tapi rasanya pertemuan langsung akan lebih menyenangkan dan bersahabat.
Secara general, boleh dibilang lingkungan kerja saya sekarang ini paling tidak 70% dari yang diinginkan oleh pekerja rumahan. Tidak buruk.
